Matchday 7 in the top flight of Athens' regional league saw a derby between Holargos and Fostiras. Holargos is an area in the north of Athens, and their team has won every match so far, sitting at the top of the table. Fostiras played in the third national division for a few years before being relegated at the end of the 2023/2024 season. They kicked off this season well too and are positioned just below today’s opponent. The club is based in Tavros, a working-class area bordering central Athens. Back in the 60s and 70s, Fostiras played in the first division, even managing to beat Olympiacos once.

A good crowd had gathered at Marceau Stadium, with fans from both sides present. The home team’s ultras brought banners, flares, and a drum and didn’t stop making noise at any point, as usual. Fostiras used to have a strong presence in the stands too, but I’m not sure if their organised supporters are still active.

The game didn’t feature many chances, as both teams played cautiously. On one occasion, Holargos took advantage of a touch error by Fostiras and managed to open the scoring. The visiting side applied pressure in an attempt to equalise, and Holargos had a player shown a straight red card. In the second half, the home team got close to scoring again with counterattacks, but in the end, it was Fostiras who got the final goal.
